Englewood, Ohio – The Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a serious injury crash involving a commercial vehicle that occurred early Tuesday morning. The incident took place at 5:18 a.m. on the ramp from state Route 49 to Interstate 70 eastbound in Clay Township, Montgomery County.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2001 Mack commercial semi-tractor trailer, operated by Derrick Selhorst, 43, from Celina, was navigating the ramp from state Route 49 to Interstate 70 eastbound when the accident unfolded. Selhorst reportedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve on the ramp, leading to the vehicle veering off the right side of the roadway. Subsequently, the semi-trailer collided with the bridge support for the Diamond Mill overpass before overturning.

As a result of the crash, Selhorst sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported to Miami Valley Hospital for medical attention.

The commercial semi-tractor trailer was in the process of transporting approximately 200 mature pigs from Rossburg to Louisville, Kentucky. Fortunately, all of the livestock remained contained within the crash area.

Following the incident, the roadway was temporarily closed to facilitate investigation and cleanup efforts. It was reopened to traffic just before 2 p.m.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol received assistance from several agencies on the scene, including the Ohio Department of Transportation, Clay Township Police Department, Englewood Fire/EMS, Brookville Fire/EMS, Dull Homestead Farm, and Englewood Towing.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances and factors contributing to the incident.
