OHIO – A girl in Ohio has won the largest crawfish contest with a bigger than average over 6 inch crawdad.

Ohio Department of Natural resources posted on their facebook site, “Congratulations to Alexis Morris for winning our biggest crawdad derby! Alexis’s Appalachian Brook Crayfish measured 6-1/8”. Thank you to all of our entrants and the parents that took their kids outside crawdad hunting!”

Kids were asked last month to go crawdad hunting and submit their findings to a special website with the proof of size of their mudbugs.

The winner will receive a bundle of 12 Ohio nature identification guides by the Ohio Division of Wildlife, featuring creatures such as dragonflies, stream fish, owls, bees, butterflies and more.

Morris crawdad is of unusual size according to ODNR the average crawfish is about 4.4 inches in length.
