Chillicothe and Racine — The first “Summer” Chillicothe Farmers Market of the season was May 4th. The market is now open Saturday from 8am to noon through October, instead of opening at 10am for its winter season.

One of three new vendors is the “Mad Batter Cookie Company.” Owner and founder Madi Jenkins is based in Racine, Ohio, near Pomeroy on the Ohio River.

She said her menu changes every month, and for May, it’s all the original flavors for the business. The cookies are available in individual packages, and she has a loyalty card for repeat cookie monsters.

On her website, she writes that in 2021, “with a business degree, a love of branding, and a born cookie enthusiast = Mad Batter was born! Homemade cookies sparking nostalgic joy in every bite – a female-owned business in the heart of Appalachia.”

Jenkins also lists 10 farmers markets in the region that she sells at.

The Mad Batter Cookie Company also has a Facebook page, Instagram account, and TikTok page. Also read my story on another new vendor, “Café Graciela.”

On-and-off drizzle didn’t dampen spirits at the first “Summer” Chillicothe Farmers Market of the season on May 4th.

The Chillicothe Farmers Market has a websiteFacebook page, and Instagram page. You can also create an account and order ahead, up to 8am each Friday, to pick up pre-paid on Saturday morning in the parking lot of the Ross County Service Center at 475 Western Avenue in Chillicothe.
