
ASHVILLE, Ohio (April 19, 2025) — A 22-year-old man is behind bars following a late-night shooting incident that occurred early Saturday morning at the Buckeye Trails mobile home park in Pickaway County.
According to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Ashville police responded to multiple reports of gunshots near 10694 Ashville Pike around 1 a.m. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a resident who reported that his grandson was missing and feared to have been shot during the incident.
A search for both the victim and the suspect began immediately. Authorities spotted a man matching the suspect’s description fleeing the area on foot but were unable to apprehend him at that time.
Roughly 10 minutes later, dispatchers received a call that the suspect was attempting to flee the scene using an Uber. Law enforcement quickly responded and arrested the man shortly afterward. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
The suspect, identified as Derrick Weber, was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Pickaway County Jail. He faces charges of felonious assault and assault.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities have not yet released details about the condition of the victim.
