Joy Sharp of Ohio State University Extension and a 4-H advisor spoke at Sunrise Rotary’s June 4 meeting about the opportunities the organization provides to youth. Opportunities involve hard skills, such as animal husbandry, cake decorating, cooking and sewing, and soft skills, including discipline, dedication, reliability and responsibility.

“4-H is about developing friendships and community service,” Sharp said. “We want to prepare our youth to be caring, capable and responsible citizens.”

There are 786 4-H members and 118 volunteers across 31 clubs in Pickaway County. Members can choose to participate from among 208 projects, Sharp said.
