CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO — Justin Melvin of Columbus Ohio, implicated in a series of attempted burglaries and a tense apprehension involving local law enforcement, has been sentenced to prison following a court hearing on July 17, 2024.

The incident unfolded on April 1st, 2024, when officers responded to multiple reports of attempted burglaries in Circleville. The first call brought Officer Sanford to Northridge Road, where a homeowner reported suspicious activity and described a male suspect in a gray and blue hoodie and blue jeans. The scene revealed significant damage to a door frame, with muddy footprints indicating forced entry.

Simultaneously, reports of a similar incident on Parkview Drive heightened police response. Shortly thereafter, dispatch received yet another call from North Court Street, where a resident reported a man lurking behind a bush and peering into windows. Officer Sanford quickly located the suspect, identified as Justin Melvin, and initiated pursuit.

With Officer Harrell’s assistance, Melvin was apprehended without further incident. During questioning, Melvin exhibited signs of drug intoxication. Subsequent investigation, bolstered by video evidence and eyewitness testimony, linked Melvin conclusively to the attempted burglaries.

Melvin was subsequently arrested and faced multiple charges including burglary, attempted burglary, obstruction, and criminal damage. Following his appearance in the Pickaway County Court of Common Pleas, Melvin was convicted on charges of Burglary and Attempted Burglary (x2).

At his sentencing hearing, Melvin received a prison term of 3 years plus an additional 36 months.
