Update – Man Charged with Kidnapping 5-Year-Old After Pleasantville House Fire

PLEASANTVILLE, Ohio (March 4, 2024) – A harrowing incident in Pleasantville, Ohio, ended with a sigh of relief as a missing 5-year-old girl was found safe following a house fire.

Fire and Missing Child:

  • On March 4th, firefighters responded to a blaze at a residence on 7266 Pleasantville Road.
  • Upon arrival, authorities discovered a young girl missing from the home, sparking immediate search efforts.

Swift Action and Collaboration:

  • Authorities received a tip suggesting the child might be with a family acquaintance.
  • Acting swiftly, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, with the crucial assistance of the Lancaster Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Kentucky State Police, launched a multi-state search.
  • Thankfully, their efforts paid off, and the girl was located safe and unharmed near Louisville, Kentucky, with the acquaintance. Kentucky State Police facilitated her safe recovery.
  • A Fairfield County man who was living at the home before it was set on fire was arrested and charged with kidnapping. 38-year-old John Beckman has currently been charged with Kidnapping, but more charges are possibly pending.
