COLUMBUS, OH – Detectives are searching for suspects after a high-value construction theft in far south Columbus.
Kent Power Company reported that a 2019 Kenworth 60-ton Long Boom National Crane was stolen from a construction site on Parsons Avenue, near Eldorado Scioto Downs. The theft was discovered around 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 31, though investigators believe the crime may have occurred overnight or over the weekend.
The stolen crane, valued at more than $500,000, would require specialized knowledge and experience to operate, leading detectives to believe the person or persons responsible were familiar with heavy machinery. Due to its size, the crane is difficult to conceal and should be easily recognizable.
Authorities continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at (614) 525-3351. Anonymous tips are welcome.
