FORT BRAGG – U.S. Officials are reporting a loss in a Special Forces Soldier. Sergeant Major James “Ryan” Sartor has died during operations in Afghanistan.
Officials say that Sergeant Major died in combat operations in the Faryab Province. Sartor was from Teague, Texas and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th special forces group in Fort Carson, Colorado.
“We are incredibly saddened to learn of Sgt. Maj. James “Ryan” Sartor’s passing in Afghanistan. Ryan was a beloved warrior who epitomized the Quiet Professional. He led his Soldiers from the front and his presence will be terribly missed, said The 10th Special Forces Group.
According to U.S. Officials Sartor joined the Army in 2001 and infantry and has been deployed numerous times to Afghanistan. He has won numerous awards and will receive a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Sartor is the 9th casualty to lose his life this year in Afghanistan.
