SCIOTO TOWNSHIP – A Kingston man was transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus on Saturday following a two-car collision on state Route 104.
Brock Nelson, 21, was reportedly traveling northbound on Route 104 in a Toyota pickup truck when he rear-ended a 2011 Dodge Ram driven by Adam Perkins, 24, of Ashville.
According to Deputy Stephen Harger, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, Perkins’ vehicle was stopped to make a left turn onto Walker Road when the crash occurred.
Nelson had to be extricated from his vehicle by members of the Harrison Township, Scioto Township and Jackson Township fire departments. He suffered a broken leg and other injuries in the accident, but Harger said none appeared to be life-threatening.
“He was very lucky,” Harger said.
The other driver was not injured in the crash, he said.
A third vehicle, a Ford Ranger driven by John Crego, 33, of Commercial Point, was headed southbound on Route 104 when the crash occurred and was struck in the windshield and on the hood with debris. Crego also was uninjured, but his vehicle suffered minor damage.
Nelson will be cited for assured clear distance ahead and driving too fast for road conditions, Harger said.
