Dickson presents recital during symposium

Molly Dickson of Circleville recently presented “String Chamber Music” during the University of Dayton’s 26th annual Bro. Joseph W. Stander Symposium.

The symposium recognizes and celebrates academic excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, providing an opportunity for students from all disciplines to showcase their intellectual and artistic accomplishments. It represents the Marianist tradition of education through community and is the principal campus-wide event for faculty and students to be a community of learners engaging in conversation, learning and discussion outside of the classroom.

More than 1,100 students participated in this alternate day of learning April 15.


Four graduate from Univerity of Dayton

Darlene Johnson of Ashville, Kala Horch of Williamsport, Rebekah Radcliff of Circleville and Joanna Shipe of Circleville were among the more than 1,800 University of Dayton students receiving their degree during 2015 spring undergraduate commencement ceremonies Sunday, May 3.

They received their degrees along with actor Martin Sheen, whom the University presented with an honorary doctor of humane letters degree for his lifelong commitment to peace, social justice and human rights exemplifying the Catholic, Marianist university’s mission, during the undergraduate commencement ceremony in University of Dayton Arena.


Ford recognized at honors convocation

Patrick Ford of Circleville was recognized at the annual Marietta College Spring Honors Convocation at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

Ford, who is majoring in environmental science, received the The David F. Young Alumni Scholarship Fund in Environmental Science Award on April 15.

He is a graduate of Fisher Catholic High School.


Four earn degrees from Ashland University

The following students completed their Ashland University degree requirements following the spring 2015 semester:

Ashley Kelley of Ashville received a Master of Education degree from Ashland University commencement ceremonies on May 9. Kelley is majoring in educational administration.

Jamie Weber of Orient received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ashland University commencement ceremonies on May 9. Weber is majoring in exercise science. She is the daughter of William and Carol Weber of Orient. Weber is a 2011 graduate of Teays Valley High School. Weber is graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors.

Amy Hardy of Orient received a Master of Education degree from Ashland University commencement ceremonies on May 9. Hardy is majoring in reading and literacy.

Zachary Wolfe of Williamsport received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ashland University commencement ceremonies on May 9. Wolfe is majoring in sport management. He is the son of Scott and Christy Wolfe of Williamsport.


Uetrecht graduates from Concordia University

Kimberly Joy Uetrecht of Circleville was one of 316 graduates of Concordia University, Nebraska, in May 2015. Graduates receiving a degree in December 2014, May 2015 or August 2015 were invited to participate in the university’s 108th commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Uetrecht, who earned her M.B.A., was an honored student at the ceremony.


Meadows graduates from Bob Jones University

Tarlton resident Brock Meadows was among the more than 700 students who graduated from Bob Jones University on Friday, May 8. Meadows graduated with a BFA in Interior Design.

During the 88th commencement exercises, 531 students received undergraduate degrees and 50 students received associate degrees. In addition, 129 students received master’s degrees and 23 candidates received earned doctorates.

Since its founding in 1927, Bob Jones University has conferred over 45,000 degrees.


Two named to Muskingum University dean’s list

Kristin Gill of Ashville and Connie Montoney of Orient recently were named to the spring 2015 dean’s list at Muskingum University.

To be named to the Dean’s List, Muskingum University students must attain strictly prescribed levels of academic performance in their overall grade point average.


Chipps performs at University of Findlay

Hannah Chipps of Orient recently performed on the flute for an instrumental recital at The University of Findlay. Chipps is majoring in western equestrian studies.
