The Scioto Elementary School third and fourth grade students and teachers recently organized a 5K run/walk to benefit Pickaway County Partners for Paws.

The students and some of their parents participated in the walk the morning of June 1, which started at the Teays Valley West Middle School track, then continued around the West and Scioto Elementary properties. They presented the organization with a check for $2,153.

“We were thrilled to be able to raise more than $2,000 for the Partners for Paws, and we were blown away by the support from the Scioto students, staff and community members,” said Betsy Richards, Scioto fourth grade teacher. “It was truly a team effort from the entire school. It is our hope that the students not only had a great time this morning, but learned the importance of giving back to our community.”
