James E. “Jimmy” Lynch, 66, of Chillicothe, ended his life journey to rest in the arms of God at 2:25 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 17, 1948, in Chillicothe, to Eddie and Elizabeth (Woodfork) Lynch.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former DeeAnna L. Lowe-Lynch, of Chillicothe.
James lived in Chillicothe all of his life. He graduated in 1969 from Chillicothe High School. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He retired from the city of Chillicothe and Chillicothe Police Department of 10 years, where his duties were school crossing guard. He also worked for the Salvation Army.
He had a passion for the outdoors, especially when it came to fishing. James loved to maintain yards throughout the community. Everyone in the community knew him. He would strike up a conversation with anyone and within minutes come away with their life story or other knowledgeable information. James knew no stranger and had a kind heart.
He was a faithful member of Faith Ministries, Circleville, where he was Deacon and President of the Brotherhood. This year (2015) James received several awards for his faithfulness to Faith Ministries.
James was preceded in death by his father and mother; and a brother, William Lynch.
In addition to his wife, also surviving are three sons, James E. (Tamara Claytor), Jamie E. (Heather Simpson) and Jeremi W. (Debbie), all of Chillicothe; brothers and sisters, Sondra (William) Thompson, Roderick J. (Kimberly), all of Chillicothe, Edward L. Jr. (Janell) and Joy (Samuel) Shabazz, all of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Victoria Lynch of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Nataha, Tanae’, Davante, Trinity, Darien, Shaki, Kyesha, Kei’arriyen, Tamiah, Jeremi Jr., Kaleah and Jayonna; a great-grandchild, Keya; close friends, Jerry Robinson and Shelly Jarju; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, July 6, 2015, in the Zion Baptist Church with Elder Clifford Brown and Pastor Paula Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. to time of service on Monday.
