CIRCLEVILLE – The sighting of a probationer wanted on a warrant led to the arrest of three people Thursday in the 100 block of West Main Street.

Robin W. Gordley, 20, Lynsey M. Barnes, 19, and Keifer C.D. Cathel, 22, all were taken into custody following a traffic stop about 7:46 p.m., according to the Circleville Police Department.

According to reports, Jason McGowan, chief probation officer for Circleville Municipal Court, advised by radio he was following a maroon Chevrolet Malibu with Gordley in the front passenger seat.

McGowan said he knew Gordley had an active arrest warrant from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation on the original charge of attempted theft.

Officer Dan Maher located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in front of 155 W. Main St., and probation officers arrived to take Gordley into custody on the warrant.

During the arrest, McGowan reportedly located a white, powdery substance wrapped in two pieces of clear plastic inside a cigarette pack in Gordley’s pocket, along with used hypodermics and other drug paraphernalia. According to reports, Gordley admitted the substance was heroin.

Officer Doug Anderson and his canine partner, Jeku, then conducted a free air search of the vehicle, and the dog indicated the presence of drugs. Barnes, the driver, and Cathel, a passenger, were both detained as the vehicle was searched.

A white, powdery substance wrapped in plastic also was reportedly found in a cigarette pack in the center console of the vehicle, along with $64 in cash. Police say Gordley admitted ownership of this heroin as well after acknowledging his Miranda Rights.

In addition to his warrant, Gordley is now charged with felony possession of a controlled substance for .3 grams of heroin, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Barnes, the registered owner of the vehicle, is charged with permitting drug abuse.

Cathel was found to have an active warrant from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office for felonious assault, and he was taken into custody on that warrant.

All three are being held in lieu of bond until their appearance in Circleville Municipal Court.
