Marilyn Lee (Schirtzinger) Williamson, 74, of Naples, Florida, passed on Aug. 22, 2015, from cancer.
She was born March 19, 1941, and raised in Columbus, moving to Westerville in 1974. After her marriage to Wilton Williamson, together they established their home in Naples, Florida in 1996.
Marilyn was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School in 1958. She was a 39-year survivor of breast cancer until her cancer returned. She was active in Hospice Columbus (Reach for Recovery) and in Hospice of Naples. While living in Westerville she volunteered at the St. Ann’s emergency room. She volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul Society, for over 10 years in Naples until her failing health forced her retirement.
She loved playing cards, dancing, sewing and traveling. She enjoyed participating in all the social events in her community and never missed a card game. Her suitcase was always packed and ready to go! She and Willie traveled extensively throughout the United States. It was always her joy to gather with friends both in Florida or Ohio.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Leo C. and Margaret (Bush) Schirtzinger; husband, Wilton (Willie) Williamson; and her brother, Leo.
Marilyn was the mother to Donna K. Herald. She truly loved her son-in-law, Keith, and her grandsons, Everett and Charles Herald. Marilyn leaves many friends and family members, including her step-daughters, Nancy (William) Bergner of Kill Devil, North Carolina, and Susan (John) Alkire of Grove City; niece, Christi (Fred) Soski of Port Clinton; nephews, Steven (Tamara) Schirtzinger of Westerville and Todd (Jenny) Schirtzinger of Westerville; their families and their mother, Patricia Schirtzinger of Ocala, Florida, Wade and Rachel, Bill and Doris Williamson, Sarah and Larry Edwards of Newark, and Mary Ellen of New York; and their families who always made her so welcome into the Williamson clan. Her former husband was Donald Troutman.
Ashes will be interned in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery, Mifflin Twp., Sunbury Rd., Columbus, next to her beloved parents and brother.
