CIRCLEVILLE – A Pataskala man and his girlfriend are now in custody and facing charges in connection with the Aug. 24 robbery of The Savings Bank in Ashville.
John E. Mogan II, 28, of Pataskala, is being held in the Pickaway County Jail on a $250,000 bond on charges of robbery, a third-degree felony, and theft, a fifth-degree felony.
Ashley K. Duboe, 24, of Lancaster, is being held in the Licking County Jail, also on a $250,000 bond for the felony charges of robbery and theft.
According to Sheriff Robert Radcliff, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, and Chief Doug Clark, Ashville Police Department, the combined resources and manpower of the two agencies resulted in the arrests.
The incident occurred about 8:48 a.m. Aug. 24 when a male subject entered the Savings Bank branch on state Route 752, handed the teller a note demanding money, then fled on foot with the cash.
Radcliff said the arrests were the result of a multi-county investigation that took detectives into Hocking, Licking and Fairfield counties as it progressed.
Clark said Ashville detective Jeff George and detectives Rex Emrick and John Strawser from the sheriff’s office worked long hours together on the investigation.
“We did some investigative work at the scene and had surveillance and evidence that pointed to [Mogan] and his girlfriend,” Clark said. “As far as we’re concerned, we got both of them that were involved.”
The incident remains under investigation, and more details will be released as they become available, Clark said.
