Opal Irene Boyer, 92, of Chillicothe, went home to be with the Lord at 8:38 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 28, 1922, to the late Ellis G. and Pearlie G. Spillman Richendollar in Lawrence County.
On May 20, 1939, she married the late George H. Boyer, who died March 18, 1993. Every year he brought her the first cut roses from their garden.
Survivors include eight children, Pauline G. McCullough, Nellie M. (John) Jenkins, Gladys A. (Woody) Coey, Trudy L. (Gregg) McCullough, Edith L. (Keith) Park, Reba L. Mitchell, Donna J. (Dale) Pate and Paul R. Boyer; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her dog, Midget.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Janet S. Jordan; and four brothers, Norman, Paul “Junior”, Everett and Clarris Richendollar; grandson, Brian Smith; and a son-in-law, David McCullough.
Mrs. Boyer was a member of Yellowbud Church of Jesus Christ and attended Cornerstone Apostolic and Faith Apostolic churches with her daughters.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Haller Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
