Lewis Conway, age 75, of Mt. Sterling, died unexpectedly on Oct. 10, 2015, in Mt. Carmel West Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1940, in Rowdy, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Elisha Conway and Winnie (Naper) Conway.
Lewis was a former member of both Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club (given the Paul Harris award), member of Knights of Pythias, Madison Plains School Board (eight years), Pleasant Township Trustee (16 years), Squad Board and Westfall Gospel Sing.
With Lewis, it was family first and foremost. His grandchildren were the love of his life, and he enjoyed participating in all of their activities, never missing an event.
Lewis was a community man serving on numerous committees and helping with festivals for the Mt. Sterling community village. One can only imagine how many fish he fried. He loved doing things for other people, such as getting them to their doctor appointments, always trying to make himself available.
As one might guess, he was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan, as he played basketball in high school himself. He loved watching sports, both in person and on TV, and always watched FOX News. As for politics, you wouldn’t want to get him started, because he fully intended on winning the debate!
Lewis will be sadly missed by his family, friends and community.
He was preceded in death by parents; son, Charles E. Conway (Oct. 17, 2005); sister-in-law, Patricia L. Dickerson (Dec. 15, 2006); and brothers, Burton and Hubert Conway.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret; daughter, Teresa Lemieux of Mt. Sterling; granddaughter, Samantha (Lemieux) and her husband Seth Faulkner of Rockhill, South Carolina; grandson, Stephen Lemieux of Columbus; siblings, James (Louise) Conway of Lebanon, Bessie (Jim) Shimp of Enon and David (Carol) Conway of Lebanon.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at the Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling. The interment will follow in Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, family suggest memorial contributions may be given to the Food Pantry of the Mt. Sterling Community Center or The Madison Plains Scholarship Fund.
