Lt. Col. Betty Helen Fincher, 73, of Circleville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, in Lancaster.
She was born July 22, 1942, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the daughter of Albert B. and Betty H. (Morgan) Fincher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John E. Fincher.
Betty graduated with a B.A. from Incarnate Word University, then was immediately commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1964. She was fluent in several languages including Japanese, German, French, Spanish and Russian, and served our country as a military intelligence officer. Betty retired from the U.S. Army in 1988.
Betty was a great person with a wonderful sense of humor and many interests. She will be sadly missed by her family: sister, Diana (Warren) Waterman; niece, Amy (John) Boyer; nephew, Kelly (Jill) Waterman; great-nieces and great-nephews, Riley and Nathan Boyer, Morgan and Erin Waterman and Josh and Kirsten McMillan; also special military friends, Frieda Williams and Alice McFarland.
Per Betty’s wishes, no services will be held. Following in her family’s tradition, Betty’s urn will be interred at Ft. Sam Houston at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
