CIRCLEVILLE – Trevor Teets was found guilty Tuesday on charges of murder, domestic violence and involuntary manslaughter in the Feb. 1 death of 19-year-old Alicia M. Pentecost-Salyers.
The jury deliberated about three hours before returning the verdict in Pickaway County Common Pleas Court.
Teets, 20, will be sentenced following a pre-sentence investigation by the court and to allow time for Salyers’ family to prepare victim impact statements at the sentencing hearing.
The majority of the prosecution’s case was presented Monday, with the defense team of Jo Kaiser and Wes Davis presenting their case Tuesday morning.

The defense recalled Dr. John Ellis, Pickaway County Coroner, to the stand as their only witness, questioning him about the trajectory of the fatal shot, as well as shotgun damage and soot on the victim’s hand.
In the end, though, the jury returned guilty verdicts on all charges, including gun specifications on the murder and involuntary manslaughter charges that add mandatory prison time to any sentence Teets receives on those two counts.
Judy Wolford, Pickaway County Prosecutor, said the case was a sad situation all around, but she was pleased with the verdict and hoped it brings some closure to the Salyers family.
For the defense, Davis spoke highly of the Pickaway County court system and the officials involved in the case.
Kaiser’s only statement was on behalf of the Teets family.
“I think the family has great remorse for what happened,” she said.
Teets will continue to be held without bond in the Pickaway County Jail until his sentencing hearing, which could take about six weeks.
