COLUMBUS — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and the Buckeye Council of the Vietnam Veterans of America will be co-sponsoring a December conference on veterans legal advocacy. Titled “Defending Veterans in the Criminal Justice System,” the one-day conference will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Columbus Police Academy Lecture Hall, 1000 N. Hague Ave. in Columbus.

The conference will focus on the effects of war and military service on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and how veterans court dockets can help veterans with rehabilitation. Panel sessions will feature judges who run veterans court dockets and attorneys who specialize in this practice area.

A request for the conference to be eligible for continuing legal education (CLE) credits, totaling 6.5 hours, is pending.

The cost of the conference is $30. Those interested in attending should contact Jennifer Mildren with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office at 614-466-8235 or at [email protected].
