ASHVILLE – On Nov. 30, surrounded by family and friends in his Ashville home, Keith Peters officially launched his campaign for Pickaway County Commissioner.
Peters, a fifth-generation farmer born and raised in northern Pickaway County, will challenge incumbent Brian Stewart.
“I have spent a lifetime in Pickaway County as a farmer, father and active community member, and I am eager to begin this campaign and share my ideas for how to get us back on track,” he said. “Pickaway County is not political stepping stone, it is a home. Through a lifetime of raising a family and building a small business here, I have seen first-hand what needs to be done to better support hard-working families.”
Peters recently stepped down from his role as Harrison Township Trustee after nearly 12 years of service. As a trustee, he was instrumental in modernizing equipment for the Harrison Township Fire Department while expanding their reach to protect more communities across northern Pickaway County.
Peters also oversaw the negotiation of the Joint Economic Development District with the City of Columbus and the villages of Ashville and South Bloomfield that brought the Rickenbacker Intermodal facility to Pickaway County and created high-paying jobs for the area.
“I am proud of my record creating jobs and building relationships as a Harrison Township Trustee,” Peters said. “My plan is to continue to build and maintain relationships with elected officials and to help improve public safety and other important county services while exercising fiscal responsibility. Pickaway County deserves a team player who is ready to put hard-working families first, and that is what I intend to be.”
During his time as trustee, Peters served 12 years on the Harrison Township Board of Zoning Appeals, eight years on the Pickaway County Soil and Water Conservation District Board and four years on the Pickaway County Board of Health.
Peters is a graduate of Teays Valley High School and owns and operates a grain farm. He has three sons and resides in a farmhouse on the outskirts of Ashville with his wife, Elisa Frosini Peters.
