Richard Doyle Spangler, 88, of Sunbury, died Dec. 27, 2015, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Hartford, Ohio, the son of John B. and Mary Ellen (Saunders) Spangler.
He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Lions Club and K of Pythias. He was a retired building supplier and operated Cellar Lumber in Circleville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Harva (Sparks) Spangler; brothers, Perry Spangler Sr., Lester Spangler and Carl Spangler Jr.; and sisters, Edna Davis and Hannah Dial.
He is survived by children, Debra Spangler of Columbus, R. Douglas (JoAnn) Spangler of Sunbury and Cheryl Spangler of Grove City; grandsons, Benjamin and Jeremy Spangler; and sister, Betty (Robert) Mead of Las Vegas.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
