Dudley V. Morris, 83, of Circleville, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at his residence with his devoted wife by his side.
He was born June 29, 1932, in Circleville, to Donald C. and Jeannette (Smallwood) Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rosabelle Henn; and brothers, Don, James and George.
Dudley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia “Pat” (Shellhammer) Morris; son, Derek (Donna) Morris; grandchildren, Devin (Eve) Morris; Casey (Rebekah) Betts and Delisa Morris; sister- and brother-in-law, Sandy and Roger Dresbach; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Dudley was a 1952 graduate of Circleville High School where he set several records playing baseball. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Van Nuys, California, from 1955-1957 in the Guided Missiles Division and played on the U.S. Army Baseball Team.
Dudley retired from General Electric after 44 years of service and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Elks and the Pickaway County Historical Society.
Dudley and Pat enjoyed traveling with friends and family to various parts of the United States and abroad, going to concerts and just being at home together, listening to Pat play the piano and reading, whether it be news, historical accounts, biographies or about sports.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastors Gerhard Kraus and Paul David Young officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at the funeral home.
