Ronnie Gene Thompson, 76, of Circleville, passed away on Jan. 16, 2016.
He was born on July 18, 1939, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Roger and Beatrice (Stevens) Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Thompson; his mother, Beatrice Stevens Orin; brothers, BJ and Gary Thompson; and sister, Connie Adams.
Ronnie was a U.S. Navy veteran, life member of AMVETS Post 2256, BPOE 77, Heber Lodge 501 F&AM and was a retired police officer for the City of Circleville for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Cassidy) Thompson; children, Greg and John (Brenda) Thompson and Carl Coleman; grandchildren, Brittany, Jack and Jacob; great-granddaughter, Aubree; step-son, Butch (Cathy) Pontious; step-daughters, Pam Smith and Sherry (Doug) Crawford; step-grandchildren, Melanie Galloway, Julie Howard, Staci Spangler, Martin Crawford, Ben Crawford and Heath Pontious; five step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Anita (Bill) Hammond and Linda (John) Payne; and by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
