Floretta McGath, age 79, of Mt. Sterling, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at her residence.
She was born April 7, 1936, in Mt. Sterling, daughter of the late Fred V. and Martha (Riddle) Trimble.
Floretta was a retired elementary and high school teacher; member of both The United Church and United Methodist Church of Mt. Sterling; 60-year member of Sterling Chapter #74 OES; Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR); and Zelta Tau Alpha Sorority.
She was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Martha Trimble; sister, Marcy (Trimble) Souder; daughter, Barbara E. Brown; husband, Robert McGath; and mother-in-law, Esther McGath.
She is survived by children, Cheryl (Brown) Wilson, D. Bruce Brown and Marcy (Brown) Holden; brother, Fred E. Trimble; grandchildren, Sarah and Samantha Brown, Kyle, Ryan and Cory Holden; great-grandchild, Jayden Meyers; as well as a niece and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling. The interment will follow in Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. An Eastern Star service will be given in her honor beginning at 7 p.m.
