Violet Lee Dean, 83, most recently residing in Germantown, Tennessee, passed away Feb. 10, 2016, at Solana Senior Center under the care of Crossroads Hospice Center.
Vi, as she preferred, was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Kanawha County, West Virginia, to the late Delbert Walls and Edith Abshire Walls.
Vi graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School and worked briefly in Charleston until she met Edwin, when she soon took a huge step and uprooted her life and moved to Ohio, where she married and quickly started a family at her new home.
She offered a lifetime of passion for her children and took a keen interest in their well-being. She kept busy in their early home lives assuring each participated in their many interests and activities and after leaving home made sure they each completed their college education at major universities, a source of great pride for our parents who never had the opportunities which they presented to us.
Vi was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she and Ed were active parishioners for most of their lives together. Quiet and reserved by nature, Vi enjoyed the simple things of life. She loved to read a good book, cook a great meal for Ed and her boys and supporting Ed in his business ventures and travels.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor Violet’s life will be held at 10 a.m. March 7, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Church in Circleville with Fr. Ted Machnik officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service which will be open to all those attending. This will be followed by a private committal service for the family at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where Vi will return at the side of Ed for their final resting place.
The entire family wishes to recognize David and Denyce for the special care, time and devotion offered to Vi after our father passed away in Tennessee.
Vi is survived by her three boys, Kenneth and wife Sally, Donald and his wife Dona, and David and his wife Denyce; as well as six grandchildren, Paula Backues, Stacy Dean, Corey Dean, Amanda Dean, Mitchell Dean and Derek Dean; and three great-grandchildren, Evan, Eli and Sophia.
In addition to her parents, Vi was preceded in death by her life-long companion and devoted husband of 52 years, Edwin Dean; sisters, Ruby Walls Votle, Nina Walls Allen and Mildred Walls Harter; and brother, Charles Robert Walls.
Flowers are welcome at the church, or memorials may be made to your local Hospice Center.
