Harry E. Pettry

Harry Edward Pettry, age 77, of Ashville, passed away April 20, 2016, at his home.

He was born March 22, 1939, to the late Harry and Opal Pettry in Kayford, West Virginia.

Harry was in the US Army from 1960-63 and worked as a coal miner and truck driver. He was a member of the South Bloomfield VFW post 7941.

Harry is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Pettry; sons, James (Christine) Pettry of Plain City and Jeff Pettry of Clendenin, West Virginia; daughters, Angie (Greg) Schoolcraft of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Joy Brooke Pettry of Spencer, West Virginia; sisters, Marceline Pettry Nida of North Carolina and Marie Pettry Hamrick of Georgia; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-children; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Mount Carmel Hospice for the excellent care of Harry.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Ashville, with funeral to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Beckett Cemetery in Commercial Point.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Scioto Township Fire Department EMS, 25 Harsh Alley, Commercial Point, OH 43116.
