Myra Ellen LeRoy, 91, of Stoutsville, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Berger Hospital with the Dresbach family by her side.
Myra was born April 6, 1924, in Chagrin Falls, the daughter of Frank and Goldia (Emmons) LeRoy, and moved with her family to Stoutsville in the 1930s.
Myra graduated from Clearcreek Township High School in 1942. At age 21, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge, Myra used her GI Bill benefit and enrolled in Case Western Reserve University to study radiology.
She worked as an x-ray technician at the Kaiser Foundation in Los Angeles for several years and then at Berger Hospital from 1969 until her retirement in 1985. In 1982, Myra began moonlighting as an x-ray technician at the office of veterinarian Dr. Hugh Dresbach and developed a passion for assisting with the care of the animals. Myra continued her work at the clinic until a broken hip in 2014 caused her to retire once again, this time to the Dresbach family residence, where she remained until the time of her death.
Myra was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John “Jack” (Maxine) LeRoy; and his twin, their sister, Jean (Wally) Hammell.
She is survived by nieces, Patricia Wallen and Nancy Williams; nephews, John Hammell and Doug LeRoy; Dr. Hugh, Hugh B., Liz, Miles and Andrew Dresbach; her friends from the North Court Animal Clinic and Berger Hospital.
Myra will be greatly missed by all of her friends, both two- and four-legged.
Myra was laid to rest near her parents in Maple Hill Cemetery, Stoutsville.
