Albert George Dabbs III, 70, of Circleville, died at 10:31 p.m. June 9, 2016, at Ohio State University Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born April 4, 1946, in Washington D.C., to the late Albert George Jr. and Lucille M. (Thomas) Dabbs.
On Aug. 29, 1987, he married Rhonda S. Dearth, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Angela (Brad) Hinton of Circleville; sons, Bryan Grubb of Grove City and Albert George IV (Heather) Dabbs of Clayton; grandchildren, Ashley (Phillip) Rutherford of Chillicothe, Thomas E. (Natasha) Bristow of Canal Winchester, Bryan Grubb Jr. of Grove City, Henrik Dabbs and Arden Dabbs, both of Clayton; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Louise Johnson of Xenia and Martha Anne (Bill) Hausmann of Springboro; a brother, Charles Thomas (Maggie) Dabbs of Moorpark, California; mother-in-law, Lucille (Edward) Adkins of Circleville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Charles Dearth; and brother-in-law, Roger Dearth.
George served his country for 30 years in both the US Navy as a Seabee and later retiring from the US Air Force in 1996. He then worked at the VA Medical Center in the civil engineering department until retiring in 2011.
He was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion, Post 62, Commander of the Color Guard, a member of AMVETS Post 2256 and a board member of the Chivaho Credit Union.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Chillicothe. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
