CIRCLEVILLE – A blown tire is suspected as a factor in the crash of a dump truck that sent the driver to a Columbus hospital for treatment on Monday.

Kevin Timmons, 61, of Stoutsville, was airlifted to Grant Medical Center following the crash that occurred about 11 a.m. on Bolender Pontius Road.

Deputy Samantha Fearnow, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, said Timmons was traveling southbound on Bolender Pontius when he lost control of the dump truck, which went off the right side of the roadway and landed on its side.

Preliminary reports indicate a damaged tire may have contributed to the crash, but Fearnow said the accident remains under investigation.

EMS crews from the Circleville and Clearcreek fire departments handled rescue operations at the scene.
