Jack F. Reno, 92, of New Holland, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at 9:04 p.m. at Court House Manor.
Jack was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Madison County, to Otto Forest and (Harriett) Ethel Culp Reno.
He was a 1941 graduate of Washington High School. Before graduation, he played baseball, basketball and football, and during halftimes of the football games, he would reenter the field to play in the band.
He was a lineman for the Dayton Power and Light Company for 30 years and then was a supervisor for 11 years. He retired on Dec. 31, 1988, after 41 years of service. He then worked at French Hardware for six years.
Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church where he had been a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. He sang in the choir, served as a trustee and several terms as deacon. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Washington Court House.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a member of Paul H. Hughey Post #25 of the American Legion.
He especially enjoyed playing golf in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Phyllis Jean Hidy Reno, on June 3, 1993; by his wife, Mary Jean Jennings Reno on Oct. 20, 2012; a daughter-in-law, Kay Reno; a brother, Frank Reno; and a sister, Margaret Fontana.
Jack is survived by his wife, E. Joyce Vincent Bryant Reno, whom he married March 23, 2013; his children, Jo Ann (Roger) Wray of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Dale (Susie) Reno and Jack Reno II, all of Washington Court House, Jim (Laura) Reno of Simi Valley, California, and Martha (Bruno) Parolin of New South Wales, Australia; nine grandchildren, Amie Dalbec, Michael Wray, Derek Reno, Erin Arnett, Seth and Adam Reno, Adriano, Gabriella and Dante Parolin; 11 great-grandchildren, Isaac, Jonah, Savannah and Olivia Dalbec, Seth Wray, Ben, Sophie, Macie and Isaac Arnett, Kamri and Ava Reno; and a brother, Marlyn Reno.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Joe Current, pastor at the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Koontz Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
