Arthur Nelson Wolfe, 84, of Stoutsville, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016.
He was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Tarlton, the son of Delano Randolph and Mary Margaret (Dauterman) Wolfe.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Margaret Peters (Ater) Wolfe; brother, Earl “Peck” Wolfe; brother and sister-in-law, Charles W. and Shirley (Bouns) Wolfe; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Carl Dean Sr.; sister-in-law, Lulumae (Karshner) Wolfe; and nephews, Christopher Wolfe and Carl Dean Jr.
Art was a 1950 graduate of Stoutsville High School and served in the Army from 1955-1957, 284th QM Corps, Fort Lee, Virginia, Petrol Depot, as a wheel vehicle mechanic.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Wolfe and West and was a life member of the Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18.
Art was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Circleville, Stoutsville Senior Citizens and attended Northminster Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona.
He enjoyed gardening, working on cars, grilling, baking, assisting his wife with processing and canning food and teaching others about construction and mechanics.
Art also enjoyed baseball and college football and was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Ohio State Buckeyes football team.
He and Martha always looked forward to going to their winter home in Tucson, Arizona, where they went on many trips with the Northminster Seniors.
Art has been described as being a very calm, quiet person who loved to yell at umpires and tell coaches how to run the game. Most of all, Art loved his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha E. (Warthen) Wolfe, whom he married on June 11, 1983; his children, Kimberly (John) Williams, Layne (Elizabeth) Wolfe, Lance (Kristi) Wolfe, Patrick (Tina Marie) Wolfe and Polly (Robert) Fetherolf; 22 grandchildren, Jesseca (Kolin) LoConti, Daniel Allen, Beth Chamberlin, Holly Warneck, Kaylee (Dalan) Miller, Johnnie Williams, Randy (Sarah) Seymour, Kaleb and Zachariah Wolfe, Lucas, Jarod and Clayton Wolfe, Logan and Ethan Wolfe, Amanda Wasmus, Jennifer (Matt) Wells, Thaddeus (Chanell) Sharrett, Wendel (Darrian) Crosby, Jr., Danielle (David Shultz) Crosby, Zane Fetherolf, Renee Lewis and Riley (Megan) Fetherolf; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward Wolfe and Robert Neal (Shirley) Wolfe; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Hunt) Wolfe and Mary Frances (Croxton) Wolfe; brother- and sister-in-law, Charles and Juanita Warthen; numerous nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Rebecca (Hartley) Myers; and his very special canine companion, Amy.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Presbyterian Church, 134 E. Mound St., Circleville, with The Rev. Dr. Jeri-Lynne Bouteres officiating. Military services will be provided by AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard.
