CIRCLEVILLE – A Columbus man was arrested on multiple charges Tuesday after a traffic stop led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

Kenneth L. Davis, 52, of Columbus, is being held in the Pickaway County Jail, charged with theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding, operating a vehicle while impaired, a probation violation, driving under suspension and other traffic violations.

According to Lt. Steven Herron, Circleville Post Commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a trooper was flagged down about 2:24 p.m. Tuesday by a female at the Sunoco station on West Main Street who reported a man had just stolen her 1998 Chevy Astro van.

The trooper immediately spotted the van, maneuvered in behind it and activated his lights to initiate a traffic stop, Herron said.

Davis, who was driving the van, reportedly pulled into a parking lot, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Once back-up arrived, two troopers searched a barn on North Scioto Street and discovered Davis lying down on the second floor of the building. Herron said Davis was taken into custody without further incident.

Herron said the Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted in the effort by officers from the Circleville Police Department.
