CIRCLEVILLE – The suspect in a shooting incident on the 4th of July has been identified as a 24-year-old Columbus man, according to Circleville Police.
Kristian Dion McDaniel is currently incarcerated in the Franklin County Jail on unrelated charges, according to Deputy Chief Robert Chapman. The Circleville Police Department will be filing charges of felonious assault against McDaniel for the local incident.
The shooting occurred about 11:04 p.m. July 4 in the area of 302 E. Main St., Chapman said. Officers responded to multiple 911 calls of gun shots in the area and found several individuals had been involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical.
During the altercation, McDaniel allegedly fired a handgun at another individual. The victim was treated and released for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
It is yet uncertain when McDaniel will be arraigned on the charges in Circleville court.
