Deborah Jean McCoy, 62, passed away peacefully at Brown Memorial Home on Monday, Sept. 5, 2016.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1953, to her loving parents, Willard R. and Ethel (Stonerock) Gaines.
She was a loving, vibrant child who would grow to be a proud graduate of Circleville High School, class of 1972. She would then continue to help her fellow man in her occupation at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, where she was a strong advocate for veterans. She was a dedicated employee until she retired.
Deborah is preceded in death by her parents; as well as siblings, Ronald Gaines, Joyce Washington and Sharon McCallister.
Left to mourn Debbie’s passing are her loving brothers, Stephen (Betty Oliver) Gaines of Stoutsville and Robert D. (Cheri) Gaines of Ashley. Also grieving Deborah’s passing are her beloved children, Scott (Krissy) Gaines of Ashley, Josh (Shawna) McCoy of Greenfield and Kendra McCoy of Circleville, along with four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Debbie was an avid OSU fanatic and was able to cheer on her Buckeyes for one last game with her family this past week. She loved spending quality time with family and friends, and greatly enjoyed 3 Musketeer bars and old Motown music.
Deborah is described by those who love her as being a loving, caring and extremely giving individual. She was a God-loving woman with her favorite verse highlighted in her Bible: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16.
Contributions can be made to Paws and Stripes, P.O. Box 46253, Rio Rancho, NM 87174, a nonprofit organization providing service dogs for wounded military veterans, in honor of Deborah’s memory.
The family is planning a celebration of life for Deborah in the near future.
