Ned Austin Reichelderfer, 80, of Tarlton, passed away on Oct. 1, 2016.
He was born on Feb. 12, 1936, in Circleville, to Arnold and Elizabeth (Leist) Reichelderfer.
Ned was married to his high school sweetheart for 62 years.
Ned graduated from Salt Creek High School and Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree. He returned to Pickaway County to teach and coach at Derby High School from 1957 to 1964. He led the basketball team to a victory in in the Pickaway County Championship in 1959.
Ned worked for Moorman Feed Company for seven years before returning to the family farm. Ned ran the family grain and beef operation for 45 years. He loved farming and worked up to his last few days on earth. He was proud of the family farm and that it was to continue for generations.
Ned spent many hours watching his children and grandchildren in sporting activities. He was a vocal supporter from the sidelines. Ned was a member of the Tarlton Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Carl Reichelderfer and Carolyn O’Ryan.
Ned is survived by his wife, M. Jean (Evans) Reichelderfer; children, Susan (Tom) Shea, Jeff (Mary Beth) Reichelderfer, Judy (Scott) Shearer, Kathy (Michael) Dye and Beth (Brad) Cline; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and by brother, Marvin Reichelderfer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at the Wellman Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Hitler Ludwig Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
