CIRCLEVILLE – Two people were detained by the Circleville Police Department Wednesday following reports of shots fired on Huston Street.
The names of the suspects have not yet been released pending further investigation.
According to reports, officers responded to reports of shots fired about 3:21 p.m., according to Sgt. Robert Chapman. While officers were en route, several witnesses directed them to a vacant lot at the old Jefferson Smurfit plant, claiming the people responsible were running across the field.
Officers located two individuals hiding in the grass near U.S. 23, and they were taken into custody.
Back at the scene, officers discovered several gun shots had been fired into the residence at 209 Huston St. based on witness reports and several gunshot holes found in the front of the residence.
No injuries were reported, but the case is being investigated as a felonious assault.
Circleville Police were assisted at the scene by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol.
