Walnut Elementary School intervention specialists Alley Voris and Michelle Ticknor recently received a $1,165.86 grant from the Teays Valley Educational Foundation to purchase items to create a multi-sensory environment at Walnut.
These environments offer students with cognitive impairments and other challenging conditions the opportunity to enjoy and control a variety of sensory experiences.
According to Voris and Ticknor, the tools they plan to purchase will help their students be successful across the school environment.
“We want to thank the Educational Foundation for their generous donation,” they said. “This will greatly impact the education of our students at Walnut Elementary. With these sensory tools students will be able to regulate their attention and emotional needs throughout the school day, positively impacting their education.”
