Sheriff Lavender reports that his office was called to a possible drowning in the 1600 block of Trego Creek Road at approximately 4:30 p.m.

An 8-year-old male was trying to cross the creek in front of his home and was overtaken by the fast moving water. The victim was discovered by family members. He was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
Sheriff Lavender wants to warn the community to use caution around any waterways in the area as the recent amounts of heavy rain have turned small creeks and streams into fast moving waterways.
