CIRCLEVILE – In April 5, 2018 Sergeant Travis McKinney was on patrol in the 300 block of East Ohio Street when he made a traffic stop on a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse for a traffic violation. Officers Lance Canterbury and Robert Morningstar arrived on the scene to assist. Officer Morningstar and his canine partner, Harry, conducted a free air search of the vehicle’s exterior. Harry alerted to the vehicle. The passenger, identified as Randy Jenkins (57), was searched and found to have approximately 4 grams of suspected Crack Cocaine along with over $1700 in cash.
Two months later on June 24,2018 Jenkins was arrested again this time at the local White Castle drive thru. According to Pickaway County Sheriff Robert B. Radcliff, on June 23, 2018 his office received a call from White Castle on a person falling asleep and possibly under the influence of narcotics in their drive thru. At 7:03PM Deputy Brooke Darnell arrived and made contact with the driver of the white pickup truck in question, Randy J. Jenkins of Circleville, Ohio. Circleville Police Department was requested for back up. Officers Morningstar and Freeman arrived. Once on scene Officer Morningstar ran his K9 partner Harry around the vehicle for a free air sniff.
During the search of the vehicle Deputies and Officers were able to locate over 4 grams of a white crystal-like substance, over 23 grams of a white rock like substance, over 4 grams of a brown powder substance, a white liquid substance in a glass measuring cup, over $150 cash, and other paraphernalia type items.
Jenkins was found guilty of possession of cocaine and trafficking of cocaine and received 4 years, 10 month plus 1,926.00 in forfeiture of drug monies that were found during the arrests.
