CIRCLEVILLE – The Circleville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol established itself as one of the leaders among all Ohio State Highway Patrol Posts in drugged impaired driving arrests, felony arrests for drugs, and driving under suspension arrests in 2018.
Statistics compiled by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 2018 showed Troopers from the Circleville Post led all other OSHP posts in drug impaired driving arrests. These efforts showcased Pickaway County to have one of the biggest increases in impaired driving arrests as compared to 2017. The hard work of the Circleville Post troopers was also highlighted for leading other OSHP posts in felony arrests, felony drug arrests, and driving under suspension arrests in 2018.
“We have a group of dedicated troopers assigned to the Circleville Post that are committed to make a positive impact in our community” said Lieutenant Steven K. Herron, Circleville Post Commander. “We obviously cannot do it alone and rely on our strong relationships and partnerships with all other Pickaway County law enforcement agencies to help make a difference. We all have the desire to make Pickaway County roadways a safer place to travel, and remain vigilant in our efforts to take impaired drivers and dangerous drugs off the roadways of Pickaway County.”

Trooper Large, 31, was recognized in 2018 as the trooper of the year for the Circleville post. “in recognition of outstanding service during 2018 at the Circleville Patrol Post. Fellow officers stationed at Circleville Post, chose Trooper Large based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public,” said OSHP.
Trooper Large is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Award to be announced at a later date.
Trooper Large joined the Highway Patrol in 2012 and has served at the Gallipolis Post, Jackson Post, and the Circleville Post throughout his career. Trooper Large is originally from Chillicothe and a graduate of Zane Trace High School. Trooper Large’s Highway Patrol awards received in the past include: Physical Fitness Award, Criminal Patrol Award, ACE Award, and Safe Driving Award.
