COLUMBUS – The Ohio House is considering limiting the death penalty if defendants have a “serious mental illness” at the time the crime was committed.
The House Criminal Justice Committee Approved of the bill but rejected a amendment that would exempted current inmates.
Offenders that have had “serious Mental Issues” have to have been diagnosed with schizophrenia disorders, bipolar or delusional disorders.
The Bill will now go to the House for consideration.
