WASHINGTON D.C. – The House of Representatives has been pushing for marijuana reform in 2019, with less than 20% of all states that have either legalized marijuana for medical or completely decriminalized the drug completely the House is now changing laws to represent what the states want.
On June 20, the House voted in favor of prohibiting the Department of Justice from using funds to prevent any American state, territory and Washington, D.C., from approving and implementing laws authorizing marijuana use, distribution, possession and cultivation; they did so through an amendment to the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill.
This not only protects marijuana use but in some states it protects CBD oil that is sometimes defined as marijuana. A recent farm bill defined CBD oil as a hemp product not a drug.
“This week, 267 of my colleagues in the House voted to prevent DOJ from taking action against businesses and individuals in states which have legalized marijuana. We need to continue to respect states’ rights and pass, said Rep. Ed Perlmutter.
