June 27, 2019
Walnut Dowler Rd. residents came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a violation of a protection order. The case was referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for review of charges.***
June 28, 2019
Deputies responded to a Trillium Way residence for a domestic violence complaint. The case remains under investigation. ***
June 30, 2019
Deputies responded to a Hansel Ave. residence. The complainant told deputies that someone had left items in their yard and asked that they be removed. Deputies took possession of the items. ***

Hocking County Deputies responded to a request from Perry County Sheriff’s Office to assist in a felonious assault complaint. ***
July 1, 2019
Deputies responded to a Water St. residence for a family dispute over an estate. Deputies told all the parties involved that they needed the proper authorization from Probate Court. ***

Deputies responded to a Goose Creek Rd. residence after the complainant told deputies that they believed someone was attempting to burglarize their home. The complainant told deputies they believed they knew who was doing it, but refused to identify them. ***

Deputies responded to a Clay Lick Rd. residence for a domestic violence complaint. After investigation, deputies arrested Ashley M. Arter, 32, Logan for domestic violence and assault. Ater was transported to the Middleport, OH jail due to lack of bed space at SEORJ. ***

Deputies responded to a Sams Creek Rd. residence for a 911 call. The caller told dispatchers that the call was a potential overdose, but after investigation, deputies learned that the caller had lied and it was a domestic violence case. Deputies arrested Tommy L. Conn, 31, Laurelville for domestic violence and assault and transported him to the SEORJ. ***

Deputies responded to a property in Rockbridge where a family was residing in a camper. The caller reported that drugs were being used in front of children. After investigation, deputies did not locate any drugs, paraphernalia or any other sign of drug use. The child appeared to be fine. Deputies contacted Children’s Services. ***

Deputies responded to a SR 180 residence for a suicidal juvenile. The juvenile had left the residence, but was located by deputies a short distance away. Deputies transported the juvenile to HVCH and requested the mother come to the hospital. ***

Deputies responded to Monday Creek trail head for a theft complaint. The victim told deputies that while riding on the trail, someone broke into his truck. ***

A Connecticut resident contacted the Sheriff’s Office regarding an eBay scam. They told deputies that they had sold a computer on eBay, but it wasn’t paid for and was a scam. The package was delivered to a resident of Hocking County. Deputies arrived at the residence and the resident told deputies that they had been communicating with a person in Texas who told them he had the package shipped. Deputies seized the computer and will release it to the owner once the proper paperwork is received. ***

A Lancaster resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report the theft of property that was for sale at the Hocking Hills Flea Market. ***
July 2, 2019
Pleasant Valley Rd. residents reported to deputies that while at their residence, outside, in the late evening, some unknown person, wearing all black, walking up toward their garage. They yelled at the person, who told them he was looking for someone and took off running down Pleasant Valley Rd. They then noticed a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in their driveway. As they approached the truck, it turned its lights on and sped away at a high rate of speed. ***

Deputies took possession of two bicycles at the Laurelville library. ***

Deputies responded to a burglary complaint at a Laurel Run Rd. residence. After investigation, deputies arrested, Jimmy D. McDonald, 41, Nelsonville and Sherry L. Papineau, 37, Nelsonville. A large amount of drugs and paraphernalia were also seized at the scene. Both were charged with Burglary and held in the Fairfield County Jail. ***
July 2, 2019
SIU detectives conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 33 for an equipment violation and littering. The detectives saw several indicators of illegal drugs and K9 Emma conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle. Emma indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and multiple items of drugs and paraphernalia were discovered. The items will be sent to the BCI crime lab for analysis and future indictment. ***

A Moore Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of criminal damaging. The victim told deputies that their vehicle had been scratched on June 29, 2019. ***

Deputies responded to Hayden Place Apartments for a domestic argument. No violence occurred. No charges were filed. ***

Deputies responded to a Maysville Williams Rd. for a suspicious vehicle. ***

A Sams Creek Rd. resident reported to deputies that unauthorized charges were made to their debit card. The investigation is ongoing. ***

Deputies took a private property vehicle crash report for a crash that occurred in June. After investigating the crash, deputies issued citations for driving under suspension and failure to exchange information to Carla K. McNamara, 51, Logan. ***

Deputies responded to a Huffines Rd. residence for a family argument. No violence or crimes were committed and the parties agreed to separate. ***

Deputies responded to a Hack St. Murray City residence for a criminal mischief complaint. The victim told deputies that they noticed several small dings believed to be from a bb gun in their vehicle. ***
July 4, 2019
Deputies responded to a Walnut Dowler Rd. residence for an argument and a complaint of trespassing. After investigating, deputies could not determine that trespassing was occurring since deputies could not speak to the property owner. One person at the scene was arrested for a warrant form Perry County. Lisa Schwanke, 39, Hemlock was arrested and transported to the SEORJ. ***

Deputies responded to a Goat Run Honey Fork Rd. residence for a domestic incident. The victim told deputies that a family member became angry and pushed them and make a fist in a menacing manner. The suspect had left the residence. The case was referred to the prosecutor’s office for review. ***

Deputies responded to a Boyer Rd. residence for a domestic argument. No violence occurred. ***

Deputies responded to a boating accident that occurred in the Hocking River. The complainant told deputies that they capsized in the fast current and two had managed to get out of the river, but two others had not. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Good Hope Fire and Hocking County EMS assisted in the search efforts. The other two were located safe. The investigation of the watercraft incident was turned over to ODNR. ***

Deputies responded to the Lost Hollow campground for an unwanted visitor. Upon deputies arrival the guest left. ***

Deputies responded to a Clapper Hollow Rd. residence for a theft complaint. After investigation, it was determined that the matter was civil in nature due to divorce proceedings.***

Deputies responded to a Long Street Murray City residence for a domestic violence complaint. After investigation, deputies arrested Andrea K. Kupchik, 37, Murray City and Lacy M. McCarty, 28, Murray City for domestic violence and assault. Both were transported to the SEORJ. ***

A SR 664 resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as an unauthorized use. The case remains under investigation. ***

Deputies responded to a Second St. Carbon Hill residence when the complainant told deputies that someone was in his camper. Deputies located a female who is the girlfriend of the complainant’s son. Deputies advised the complainant on the eviction process should they decide to do that. ***

Deputies responded to a Stump Run Rd. residence where the complainant told deputies that a family member was acting like they were on drugs. Deputies located the individual who told deputies that they had snorted a drug and consumed alcohol on July 1st and has been awake and hallucinating since then. They were transported to O’Blennes Memorial Hospital for treatment. ***

Deputies responded to a Natchez Lane residence for a complaint of domestic violence. After investigation, deputies arrested John P. McGovern, 22, Bexley, OH for domestic violence and assault and transported him to the SEORJ. ***

Deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint at a Mohler Rd. residence. The investigation is ongoing. ***

Deputies responded to a Blue Creek Rd. residence for a burglary complaint. Deputies collected evidence and the case remains under investigation. ***

Deputies responded to complaint of a male passed out in a vehicle in Murray City. Deputies located the vehicle and suspect, Thomas W. Mitchell, 53, Murray City in Cherry Alley. Mitchell was passed out with the keys in the ignition. When deputies awoke Mitchell his speech was slurred and was very unsteady on his feet. Mitchell refused any chemical testing. Mitchell was charged with OVI Physical Control and drug paraphernalia and released to a sober person. ***

Deputies responded to a Cox Rd. residence for a domestic violence complaint. After investigation, deputies arrested Jeffrey M. McKinley, 58, Logan and charged him with domestic violence M4 and aggravated menacing. McKinley was transported to the SEORJ. ***

Deputies responded to a Huston Rd. residence for an assault complaint. The complainant was intoxicated and witnesses gave a different account. The complainant refused treatment from HCEMS. ***

Deputies responded to a Walnut Dowler Rd. residence for a domestic dispute. No violence occurred. ***
July 8, 2019
Deputies conducted a traffic stop at Ora E. Anderson Nature Preserve for a marked lanes violation. Deputies identified the vehicle as an unauthorized use reported on July 6th. After investigating, deputies also located several items believed to be methamphetamine and heron. Deputies will submit the suspected narcotics to the BCI crime lab for analysis. The owner arrived to pick up their vehicle and when asked if he knew the driver was suspended, they replied they did. Charges for wrongful entrustment are to be filed on the owner as well.
