USA – First responders and 9/11 Construction workers who suffered sometimes immediate health concerns after dealing with the tragic attack on the lower Manhattan twin towers of the world trade center had some relief one Tuesday after Senate passed the 911 Bill by outstanding majority 97-2.
Earlier this month the House voted a majority vote also of 402-12 Vote, now President Trump will only need to sign it to put this bill into law until 2092.
“Congress can never repay these men, women and families for their sacrifices. But we can do our small part to try and make our heroes whole,” Senator McConnell said.
More than 40,000 people have applied for the September 11th Victim fund, that covers illnesses that are related to the World Trade Center, Pentagon, or Shanksville, Pennsylvania attack. 9 billion in benefits have been paid our or are pending in the 7.4 Billion dollar fund, the new passed bill will add 10.2 billion more into the fund to cover pending costs and future costs.
Jon Stewart an advocate of the 9/11 bill said, “We can never repay all that the 9/11 community has done for our country. But we can stop penalizing them. Today is that day.”
The bill is named after three responders who died of illnesses after the 9/11 attacks and were part of clean up and response, New York City police detective James Zadroga, firefighter Ray Pfeifer and detective Luis Alvarez. According to AP Family members of all three men were in the Senate gallery for the final vote.
