Scioto Township Fire to Receive Grant for Sparky Fire Dog Costume

SCIOTO TOWNSHIP – Recently sworn in Chief Cline hit the ground running making changes and improvement to the Scioto Township fire department, now he has been awarded a grant for a needed tool for positive PR, a Sparky the Fire Dog Costume.

According to the press release, the awarded grant stood out among hundreds that the FM global fire prevention grant received. FM global has awarded millions of dollars in funding to fire department and related agencies worldwide.

“The Sparky costume will enable us to enhance our Fire Safety Education programs in the schools and with any public event. Fire safety and education should should start early. The costume draws children’s attention, making it easier for us to teach them about 911, fire, and emergencies,” said Chief Cline.

The costume will be fully funded with the grant at a total of 2290.00 dollars. Chief Cline said he will just be receiving funds soon and make the purchase in the next few weeks.

Chief Cline was sworn in, in April of this year.
