PICKAWAY – The Mid State League Buckeye Division title will be shared once again this season. After a long hard-fought year, the three favorites coming into the season will have to share the title after week 10 came to an end last night. Teays Valley, Amanda and Bloom Carroll will share the honors of hoisting the MSL championship with a 5-1 record after the Vikings were beaten last night against the Bulldogs 24-9 and the Aces knocked off the Braves of Logan Elm 28-6. With a Vikings win against the Bulldogs they would have won the title outright, however Bloom Carroll had other plans. The Bulldogs won the battle up front and controlled the line of scrimmage. Although the Vikings won the turnover battle they couldn’t capitalize on the mistakes that Bloom Carroll made. Carroll was able to control the clock by moving the ball on the ground and rushed for 196 yards with Scarberry grabbing 105 of them. The Vikings have relied on good defense and a balanced offense all year long to allow them an opportunity to challenge for the MSL title. Last night however they struggled in both of those stats as they only amassed 52 yards in the air and allowed over 300 total yards to the Bulldogs. Bloom Carroll got out to an early lead 10-0 in the first quarter before the Vikings were able to hit a late field goal in the second quarter to cut the lead to 10-3 before halftime. Reily Weiss hit Dale Hubbard for a 30-yard strike to cut the lead to one point in the fourth quarter but couldn’t connect on the extra point attempt to tie it up. Unfortunately for the Vikings they couldn’t stop the Bulldogs from scoring the next 14 points and took it on the chin to end the game with a 24-9 loss. The Vikings end their season with a 7-3 record and a shore of the MSL title for the third consecutive year.
