ASHVILLE – Ashville will celebrate this years tree lighting with the first ever Ashville Christmas Parade on November 30th.
The event started by Ashville Knights of Pythias Palmetto has a lot of the town stirring to get involved with this great event.
“Having a Christmas Parade in Ashville is something I’ve wanted for years, said Daryl Ward, “We are inviting everyone who wants to come and be involved in our new tradition. You don’t have to be from Ashville to be in our parade, we are encouraging everyone who would like to participate to bring a decorated float, tractor, or whatever, light up a golf cart and come join in the festivities.”
Ward said that since the announcement of the event local businesses in the downtown Ashville area have become involved and will be doing something also.
“The Event is sponsored by the KP women and men lodges, the women Civic Club, and the Ohio Small Town Museum. We will have Santa, Music by Teays Valley Symphonic Choir during the tree lighting. There will be free activities, hot chocolate, and cookies for kids.”
Activités will start at 5 pm on November 30th, then the parade will start promptly at 6 pm and travel the normal Ashville parade route of Station to Long to Main to Park. Santa will exit his float at 34 Long Street in front of the Small Town Museum for the Christmas tree lighting at around 7 pm.
Local Businesses will be open late to offer fun activities for the kids during the entire event.
“We have confirmed that we will have Teays Valley Band, and special guests of Two Rickenbacker solider units that will participate in the parade. Knights will also kick off the sale of Christmas trees after the event. Every Year we give away ten trees to needy families in the area, so if you want to give to a worthy cause and purchase a tree we will have them.”
