PIKE – Two people were injured when their vehicle overturned in Pike county early this morning.
According to Ohio State Highway patrol Chase Eyre, 27 of Chillicothe was driving a Jeep eastbound on State Route 335 in the early morning around 1:39 am on January 18, 2020. Eyre lost control and drove off the road into a ditch striking a culvert and overturning the vehicle, then the jeep caught fire.
Eyre was hurt severely in the crash, his passenger, Glen Martin , 23, of Bainbridge wasn’t hurt as bad and seeing the immediate danger of their situation dragged Eyre from the vehicle to safety, according to patrol.
Eyre was transported to Grant Medical Hosptial in Columbus for serious injuries, Martin was transported to Adena for non-life threatening injuries.
Ohio state highway patrol, Pike county sheriff, and Jackson fire were on scene.
According to authorities Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, and the crash remains under investigation.
